The Crow Boy Reflections
By Snea Thinsan
November 2002
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having read the Crow Boy story, I put myself in the Crow Boy's shoes and created a piece of thoughts.

I belong to me in the woods
I am fine without suits, without pen
I can live happily with ducks, hens, …
I can sing with chickens and the corns

I don’t quite read well; that’s my life
I can’t write, but I know animals
I don’t talk, but I hear when crows morn
I can feel just beyond can most men

I don’t fit school well, why bother
Few teachers care why I’m different
All my peers see me like a hen
“Stranger!” –They pretend they know me

I am more than a poorly literate lad
Don’t feel bad ‘cause I’m no enemy
I am just the way they can’t see
But I’m
ME who live fruitful ways

Do I long for standing ovations
For demonstrations of what crows say?
I don’t like to be liked in their ways
Please see me as OK, not the same

I have lived my way all my life
You play planes; I play kites—no problems
You love math; I love crows, but we’re the same
We eat, sleep, and are
TAMED by school.
